Wedding portrait of William George Garfield Gordon (born 29 June 1886, son of Joseph and Jane Gordon) and Birdie Evelyn Cross, who were married on 23 February 1916. They were married at the bride's home at Nantyr, directly across from the old Nantyr School. After they were married they moved to Ponteix, Saskatchewan to farm. They then returned to Ontario for a short period, and later moved westward once again. They eventually returned to Stroud and retired in the house beside the Stroud Post Office (later the residence of Norman Sabin)., IHS1565

Whane Family Burial Plot

Photo of the Whane (sometimes spelled Whayne) family burial plot, uncovered by the Innisfil Historical Society in a small cemetery. Margaret Whane and her baby were buried there in 1856. Her husband had come to Canada a year previously. Three days after Margaret and the child arrived to join him, they died of cholera and were buried on the corner of the farm, located on the northwest corner of Sideroad 10 and Conc. 11, IHS2017

Photo from 1953 of the wheat harvest on the Lemuel Hubbert farm. Pictured from left to right are: George Saunders on the binder, Bill Wice, Lemuel Hubbert, Eric Saunter (child) on tractor with his father, Alick Saunter. Lemuel and his wife Violet purchased the farm in on the south half of lot 17, concession 17 in 1915. The farm then passed to their daughter Jean and her husband Alick, which eventually was inherited by their son Eric. The photo shows the new Ford tractor the Saunters had purchased in 1950 along with a new threshing machine., IHS1666
