Ken Blanchard, a life long resident of Essa Township died at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston. He was 90. He was born on November 14, 1914 on the family farm on the 4th line of Essa Township. the 7th child of William and Catherine Ann (Patton) Blanchard. He married Florence Sturgeon of Gilford in 1951 in Bradford Presbyterian Church. Their children were a son,Richard and a daughter Ann. He served many years as People's and Rector's Warden in St. Peter's Anglican Church, West Essa. In 1959 he was elected and served for 10 years on township council and later for 8 years as a member of the town's Planning committee. The funeral service was conducted by Canon John Fralick on August 18, 2005 in the W. John Thomas Funeral Home in Alliston with interment in the Alliston Union Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Florence, son Richard and daughter Ann and her husband Richard Kerr. He leaves his brother Winston and his wife Ruth and was predeceased by his sisters Maude Tomey and Laura Voce and by brothers James, Frederic, Louis and Harold.
