George Constable'S Home

George Constable had a garden party when he retired as a livestock trucker and before he went on a year's vacation through Canada and United States with his wife, Marjorie and children, Ann and son Sandy.
These ladies made sandwiches for the 2,000 guests that attended.

George Cowan

Studio portrait of George Cowan, the brother of William Cowan Sr., who immigrated to Canada in the early 1850. He was a native of Dumfriesshire, Scotland and was born 5 March 1835 in Lockerbie, Scotland. He married Christina Ross (born 15 January 1831) in Cromarty, Scotland. They raised four boys and one daughter named John, Alex, Robert, William, and Mary. George Cowan cleared and farmed the north half of Lot 20 Concession 11 of Innisfil, and had lived there for a total of 60 years before his death in 1920. The portrait was taken later in his life and shows him in a dark coat with white hair and a white beard., IHS2990

George Reid farmed on the north side of the 5th Line, Lot 23, delivering milk to Whisker Avenue before pasteurized milk was available. It came straight from the cow and was delivered while it was still warm. The Whiskers had a cottage there, and they were one of the first families on the lake in that area., IHS320

Gilford Store

Photo of Leonard Bell standing in front of the Gilford Store and Post Office. Two early style gasoline pumps are visible on either side of the photo. The store was located on the corner of Gilford Rd. and Bell's Lane, which was formerly known as Front Street prior to 1991.
