Photo taken in 1893 of a classroom interior at Cookstown Public School with students seated at their desks. The teachers, Miss Addie Ferguson and Mrs. W.F. Moore, who were substituting for Mr. W.F. Moore and Miss Elder, are pictured standing at the back of the classroom. The three boys standing along the wall next to the teachers were from a different classroom in the school. Photo of the exterior of Cochrane House, which was was built by George Stewart in 1869 and the farm was named "Droit Farm" meaning rightful ownership. In 1918 it was purchased from a Mr. Alex McKee by Mr. William David Cochrane and was sold by his son Joseph in 1969 to Lakeview Dairy of Barrie. The Stewarts excelled in their trades which was proven by the outstanding inside finishing, including much plaster of Paris and Birdseye finishes. The outside boasts a number of exquisite architectural and decorative features including a Juliet balcony, covered porch, cross gabled roof, decorative gable trim, and awnings for side windows., IHS2717
