Photo of the exterior of Cochrane House, which was was built by George Stewart in 1869 and the farm was named "Droit Farm" meaning rightful ownership. In 1918 it was purchased from a Mr. Alex McKee by Mr. William David Cochrane and was sold by his son Joseph in 1969 to Lakeview Dairy of Barrie. The Stewarts excelled in their trades which was proven by the outstanding inside finishing, including much plaster of Paris and Birdseye finishes. The outside boasts a number of exquisite architectural and decorative features including a Juliet balcony, covered porch, cross gabled roof, decorative gable trim, and awnings for side windows.
