Join us on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 between 4 and 6 p.m. at Nantyr Shores Secondary School (1146 Anna Maria Avenue) for a very special free event, open to the public. The school will be hosting From Vimy to Juno, a bilingual travelling exhibition that examines Canada’s role in the First and Second World Wars, anchored on the Battle of Vimy Ridge in April 1917 and the D-Day landings on Juno Beach in June 1944.
Our partner, the Innisfil Historical Society, is a sponsor of the exhibit, as well as of a fundraising dinner being held at the school at 6:30 p.m that evening. Proceeds from the dinner support the upcoming trip by a group of Nantyr students to the historic battlefields of Europe. Contact the school for dinner tickets-- $30 per plate for a three-course meal.
The exhibition itself is free to attend, and focuses on the personal stories of the men and women who experienced firsthand these nation-defining moments in Canadian history, while at the same time examining Canada as a nation from 1914 to 1945.
Developed by the Juno Beach Centre in partnership with the Vimy Foundation, it is was made possible through the generous support of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
Representatives will also be present from the Innisfil Historical Society, the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, the British Home Children Advocacy & Research Association, and more.
