William Cowan and his daughter Mary Alice. William Cowan (March 15, 1837 - December 13, 1927) was born at Mollinburn, near Jhonstone's Bridge, Dumfrieshire, Scotland. He sailed May 21, 1857 on the steamship "Clide" and arrived after 13 days in Canada. He died December 13, 1927 in his 91st year on the farm he purchased from "the Crown" on the north half of Lot 11, Concession 8. Mary Alice Cowan was the daughter of William Cowan and Ann (Ross) Cowan, born in Innisfil on January 19, 1871. She lived on the farm, north half of Concession 8 until 1932, when she moved to Stroud and lived in a house on the west side of the Presbyterian Church where Innisfil Plaza is presently located (1988). She died January 3, 1963.
