Post Card image of Peninsular Park Hotel on Big Bay Point. The photo shows several hotel guests seated in lawn chairs in the summer sun. Much of the building's wraparound verandah is obscured by the growth of trees and shrubs surrounding the three storey building. The hotel was popular in the early twentieth century and known as an aristocratic summer resort. Located on Big Bay Point and built in 1886 or 1887 it contained sixty guest rooms as well as a spacious rotunda and dining hall. It was known to attract American tourists interested in taking their holidays in the "wilds" of Canada.
