Born 3 May 1834 and died 22 January 1917, George Barclay was a Postmaster in Innisfil and eventually the post office was renamed Barclay to limit confusion with mail being sent to Western Canada where place names included Innisfile, Innisfale, etc. He was a Justice of the Peace and never married. He was the eldest son of Francis Barclay, and his brothers were David, Francis, and John (who eventually married Maria Louisa Nixon). The photo shows an older George seated in a wicker chair positioned directly in front of the door to his home. He is wearing dark pants and a jacket and holding a folded newspaper.
