"As well as being responsible for serving on council, and being involved in all aspects of running a Town, council members are appointed as chairpersons of various departments and some are appointed to other committees or boards. Appointments were announced at last week's council meeting. Mayor, Brian Jackson, automatically becomes a member of Simcoe County council. He will also be Innisfil council's representative on the South Simcoe Police Services Board. Deputy-mayor, Barbara Baguley, will also become a member of Simcoe County council as well as Innisfil's representative on Innisfil Hydro electric Power Commission. Councillor Roy Bridge will chair the Town's Road Service Department as well as sitting on the board of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority. Counciller Dorothy Lea will chair the Recreation and Community Services Department as well as sit on the board of The Royal Victoria Hospital. Councillor Gord Wauchope will be chair of General Government plus a member of Innisfil Public Library Board. Councillor Bill Pring has been named chair of Financial Services. Councillor Bill Van Berkel will chair the Town's Utility Services. Councillor Paul Wardlaw will chair Fire Services. Councillor Lynn Dollin will chair Administrative Development Advisory Committee and Communtiy Development. The SCOPE wishes each member of council for the new term, good luck. Council's job has never been easy, but with provincial downloading of roads, social services and probably a lot more, it will be a great challenge indeed."
