"The story of the early early schools in Stroud has been written fully, much of it by Miss Harriet Orchard whose family was connected with the school so long - her father as teacher (his grave is marked with a stone in St. James cemetery with "Our Teacher" on it) the family as pupils and Hattie as caretaker for many years."
