"Cement footings put in in 1938. Building was built as an extension of the log cabin which they had lived in for a couple of years, and that’s how it got it's name - "LOG CABIN PAVILLION." In summer movies were shown every Thursday evening as Mr. Syd Stark provided the service. Later years roller skating was provided on Tuesday night, dancing for the local youths on Wed., and Friday and Saturday nights. In the winter part of the Dance Hall was closed off and Eucure parties were held for the Local Folks. About 1950 George built an extension on the west side of the dance hall and put it a bowling alley. We formed a bowling club and four teams bowling in the winter, every Friday night. There were many good times had under the roof of "Log Cabin Pavillion". Later it was known as "PEGGIES DANCE HALL" and live bands were hired and the walls bulged. I remember Peggy telling me they had 600 dancers in one night. The crowds were terrific and all the neighbours were up in arms with the noise of cars around the area. In 1972 or about that time Peggy and George rented the dance hall to two school teachers from Barrie, and it failed as they didn't provide good service or music. About the later part of the 1970's they sold the hall and ti became a second hand store for a year. Then Guy and Nicky Nichols bought it and renovated the living quarters. Guy used the Dance Floor as a electric service outlet, and they tore the bowling alley down as it was beginning to deteriorate. Guy and Nicky sold it to the present owners who have turned it into a store and operate it as "Allans" General Store."
