Programme to accompany Cherry Creek School Reunion held June 22, 1963. Cherry Creek School was operational 1847-1963. "The first school at Cherry Creek was a log building situated south of the present location. The District Council of the District of Simcoe bought six square rods of land for the school grounds and the section stretched from the swamp to the lake. Prior to this, children attended school at Gimby's Corners (Churchill). In 1856 the Trustees of School Section Number One Innisfil (later changed to three) bought a larger area in the north-east corner of the farm then owned by William and Nancy Tapper (south half, lot 15, concession 2, Innisfil). The price paid was one penny and the former school site. On this new ground was built a frame building which is now used as a barn on the farm owned by Russell Stewart. Across the road from the school was the first store in Innisfil. Here the pupils filled their stone ink-pots for a penny from Mr. Maines' supply of homemade ink. The present brick building was erected in 1876, the grounds having been enlarged two years before for the sum of $70 when more land was brought from the Tapper farm."
