The Holland River May Again Resume Its Name The sign is gone. Last week The Witness knew that it was going to go but waited it announce its actual removal. No longer is our Holland River misnamed to the thousands upon thousands who travel Highway No. 11. To Geo. G. Johnston, M.P.P., and to the Honorable George Doucett, Minister of Highways, goes the credit for the removal of that very annoying sign. Mr. Johnston made clippings from The Witness each time this newspaper made comments upon the incorrect naming of our river by an employee of the Department of Highways and presented these clippings to Mr. Doucett. Result? The sign is down. True, some may wish to have the correct name put in its place. In so far as this newspaper is concerned, since the wrong sign has been removed, the subject will rest there. Our Holland River and Holland Marshes along the river are surely to well known to require a label. It was their fame which subjected the misnaming sign to so much comment.
