Photo of the first house on Burnside farm, which was eventually torn down. It was a raised brick home with a large wraparound verandah and numerous windows. The photo was taken during the winter and there is snow in the yard and on the steps. Mr. Walter Allan bought this farm from his brother Gavin C. Allan, and at one time Gavin lived in this house too. When Mr. Walter Allan moved there he moved a second house on the property, and Miss. Kay Allan and Mrs. Eva Allan (Reid) and family lived in the second house. Their uncle, Gavin C. Allan, was a contractor. He built their house at 308 Killarney Beach Rd. in Lefory and his own home. He also helped build St. James Church in Stroud.
