Side profile of an early twentieth century tractor powered by steam engine. The implement belonged to Beverly Quantz, who lived in St. Paul's. The tractor was often used for threshing, a seasonal event that involved the entire community with threshing teams that traveled from farm to farm. This photo shows the large rear wheels as well as the power transfer pulley - a medium sized wheel located off the ground between the front and rear wheels. A belt was attached to the pulley, which itself was powered by the engine. The belt would in turn be fastened to a second piece of machinery, usually a thresher.
