Studio portrait of Mr. and Mrs. James and Margaret Lennox, the grandparents of Mr. Dalton Lennox and his twin brother Mr. Darcy Lennox. James Lennox was born about 1823 in Kilrea, Londonderry, Ireland to John Lennox and Margaret Humphrie. He immigrated to Canada about 1827. died on 5 January 1901, and is buried in the Ivy cemetery. Margaret Lennox (née McCartney) was born about 1830 also in Kilrea, Londonderry, Ireland to Andrew McCartney and Elizabeth Lennox. She immigrated to Canada in approximately 1849 with her widowed mother. She died on 17 March 1885 and is also buried in the Ivy cemetery. Her sister, Mary McCartney, was a well-known resident of Essa who lived to be 95. Additional information for this record was provided by Glenn Lennox., IHS2289

Photograph of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Sutherland. Robert Alexander Sutherland and his wife Elizabeth Jane (née Johnston) had eight children, all born on their family farm. Grandfather John Johnston cleared the farm - all but 5 acres out of 100 acres - until 1944, when sale took place. Jean (later Jean Hand) was youngest: 5 boys, 3 girls. Their children were William, Donald, Agnes, Wilfred, Margaret, Gordon, Fraser, and Jean. Daughter Margaret (later Mrs. Andrew) lived in Maple (1976). Son Fraser married Bernice Margaret Jennet of Thornton (daughter of Miller and Elizabeth Jenett). Fraser and Bernice operated a dairy farm on the north half of lot 14, concession 9 before selling the farm in 1993 and retiring. They had four sons: Colin, John, Gordon, and Robert. Mrs. Jean Sutherland (born 29 October 1869) died on 8 October 1946, and Mr. Robert A. died in 1958., IHS2309

Mr. Wilfred Stewart (1882-1974) and his wife Ellen May Cross (1882-1954) of Churchill and their children Wallace (left, 1911-1944), and Mac (right). Wilfred worked as an assessor and tax collector in Innisfil for thirty years, beginning in 1925. He also farmed for many years in Tyrone before retiring in Lefroy. He also acted as a church elder at the Churchill United Church and served as a Sunday School superintendent for 16 years. Wilfred's second wife was named Bertha Thompson (née Atkinson)., IHS1708

Studio portrait of William T. Miners and his wife Dinah (née Webb), residents of Cookstown. They married on 19 September 1874. Mr. Miners owned and operated a successful blacksmith shop from 1895 to 1909 located at 3 King Street after having been an assistant to the original owner, Henry Jones Dunning. William's nephew, Thomas Webb, took over the business until 1952 as the Miners had no children. William Miners died in 1913 and Dinah in 1932. Dinah was originally from Probus, Cornwall, England and arrived in Canada as a young woman. In the photo Mr. Miners is wearing a long dark coat and sports a moustache while Mrs. Miners is wearing a long black dress with long sleeves, made of a material with a satin-like sheen. A long chain around her neck attaches to the dress at the waist and her hair is pinned upwards. The couple is posed in front of an elaborately detailed chair and settee and standing on an animal skin rug., IHS2711
