: Gilford Store Owners; Reading the paper after their retirement. James Andrew Blain and Helen (Maconchy) were proprietors of the Gilford store from 1885-1919. James Blain emigrated from Castlewellan, County Down, Ireland, to Gilford about 1876 at age 25 and began clerking in this store, then owned by Squire Thomas Maconchy. In 1882 he married Maconchy's eldest daughter, Helen Amelia, and they moved into the apartment over the store. In 1885 he purchased the store and became postmaster, railway ticket agent, and telegrapher. He also operated a cheese factory, later a creamery, south of the Temperance Hall, and subsequently he donated that location as a community park. In 1919 the store was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Badger and the Blains retired to Glenholme Avenue in Toronto.

: Gilmore and Son General Store; Photo of Gilmore and Son general store, which had been renovated and enlarged in 1965 in both directions. Previously it had been known as I.M. Gilpin General Store around 1905 or earlier and was built on property purchased from Milton Reid at corner of Church St. and Killarney Beach Rd., Lefroy. Formerly also the Post Office and Byron Grose Meat store - the side buildings were torn down and the property was made into a parking lot., IHS3320

: Gilmore and Son Store; The Gilmores purchased the store in 1945 when it became Gilmore & Son Store. It was formerly operated by the Flemmings, and by the Kitchens. The store was located on Killarney Beach Road, north side of street, west of the train tracks. LUC #102., IHS3318

: Girls At Killyleagh School; Photo from 1950 of three young eighth grade girls standing outside of Killyleagh School, S.S. #6. Pictured from left to right are Jean McNeill, Doreen Gordon, Kathleen Lagace. In this period, girls in the eighth grade often left school in the middle of the year and therefore did not appear in class photos. These three are wearing short sleeved knee-length dresses and the brick wall of the school building is visible just behind them., IHS678

: Glenwood Beach - G. Hunter Store at Left; Glenwood Beach - G. Hunter Store at Left. Jack (John) Hunter ran a parking lot area for all the people who came to the beach on the weekends. Parking in his lot was $1 a day. Road parking was available but filled up quickly, 75 yards. Most came up for the day to swim. George Hunter probably rented the umbrellas., IHS 4370

: Glenwood Beach Cottages; Photo of two small single storey cottages with front porches in a clearing with numerous tree stumps visible in the foreground. William W. Gunn purchased the first cottage lot at Glenwood Beach from Albert Purvis for $600.00 at $6.00 per foot. The beach's name came from Glenwood Avenue, which was the name of the street on which William W. Gunn lived. Allan J. Gunn (b.1913 - son of William W. Gunn) was present at the time of the purchase. The cottage on the left of the photo is the Gunn cottage, built in 1921 by a Mr. Fagan, an Innisfil carpenter, and a Mr. Jobbit. It was painted a heather brown. The cottage on the right, also built about 1921, was originally owned by the Wells family and in 1998 was owned by Cynthia Gaynor. The car on the extreme left is a Model T Ford, followed by a Maxwell c.1918. The photo was taken from the shore of Lake Simcoe. Allan J. Picture taken at "Sandy Nook" which was her summer cottage location on Bon Secoeurs Beach, which later was renamed as Goodfellow Beach to accommodate the local post office.
