An historic plaque erected by the Simcoe County Historical Association with assistance from the Township of Innisfil and the Innisfil Historical Society to mark the location of the mast that was cut in 1853 for the British ship "The Great Eastern". Nightingale Home

Photocopy of a newspaper article from The Banner describing the sale of a house in Stroud known as the Nightingale home. The article details how the building was originally constructed in 1872 and served as the manse for the Presbyterian minister, but was later purchased by Mr. and Mrs. William Nightingale. Their daughter Florence lived in the home until her death at age 82. The property was willed to the Canadian Red Cross Society and later put on sale for a price of $27 000 (date of sale unknown). The home at the time of sale had no running water or sewage facilities, no gas, and no insulation., IHS2794
