Photo from July 1961 of a variety store owned by Stella and Omer Allard located on Killarney Beach Road in Lefroy. The photo shows their two children, Lucille (left) and David (right), standing in front of a window display with a door on either side. Two signs above them read "Allcraft Sales & Service" and "lady-o ice cream". The store was owned by the Allards from 1960 to 1966. It was located next to a gas station owned and operated by Helen Baxter and her husband Albert Cundall.

Lake Simcoe Fishermen

Lake Simcoe fishermen Graham Webb, his Uncle Elwood Webb, and John Goodfellow. Four lake trout and six white fish were the catch of the day. One whitefish was over 9 pounds and several were 7 pounds each. Only one of the whitefish had a clipped fin [indicating it was stocked] and the others appeared to be naturally bred in the lake, which is indicative of improving whitefish numbers in the lake., IHS4252

She had grown up in the Churchill area and taught for a period at Gilford School. She can be seen in the photo as the fourth person from the left in the back row. The photo was donated by Kemp Hastewell, son of Margaret Canning Hastewell.

She, as well as many of her brothers and sisters, attended the Fifth Line School. In this photo, Margaret was a student at Lefroy School. She can be seen as the sixth person from the left in the second row. The other students in the photo have not been identified. This photo was donated by Kemp Hastewell, son of Margaret Canning Hastewell.

She had grown up in the Churchill area and taught for a period at Gilford School. It is thought that this group of women were enrolled in a course for teachers or a Normal School. New Historical Plaque Erected in Innisfil
-
Newspaper clipping of an article about the first historical plaque in Innisfil, unveiled Sunday June 23rd at 2:30pm. Title of the plaque, which has been erected on property donated by Hilton Webb, is "Mast For a Great Ship". The Plaque reads: "Here grew some of the largest pines ever found in Ontario. In 1853 a 120-foot log was cut on the farm of Thomas Webb, lot 23 concession 12, one of three large pines whose stumps still remain. Hauled to the water by ten teams of horses, the log was shipped to England to become a mast for the "Great Eastern." This epic iron vessel, the first with both sail, steam, launched in 1858, was for forty years the largest ship in the world."

The article discusses Skunks and Scholars, a book that holds a collection of submissions of memories of gorwing up in Innisfil Township before 1940. The caption under the image reads "Janet Arnett, left, the editor, and Kay Weber who came up with the idea for the new book Skunks and Scholars, believe the stories in their book about growing up in Innisfil township are worth preserving." One Hundred and Eleven Years of Curling

There is a photo accompanying the article of two men standing on the curling rink, the caption reads: "CURLING CHAMPS - Jack Constable (left) and Ron Allan (self-dubbed Mayor of Churchill) haven't been curling in Churchill for 111 years but they've been doing it long enough to tell you some great curling stories from a lot of years ago."
